Who I Am

Driving people toward something great has always been my passion. Whether it’s helping great products and services find their way to great consumers, or helping great candidates find their way to great careers, I leverage proven experience in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, and Human Resources to make the connection.

I’m a personable and driven Marketing and Spanish Language student at Oakland University that stumbled upon an appreciation for people and organizational culture somewhere along the way. In addition to my coursework, I’m a Marketing and Human Resources professional in the construction and manufacturing industries. It hasn’t necessarily been the experience that I expected when I accepted a Marketing and Graphic Design internship with American Fence & Supply Co., Inc./Metal City Fab, but it has most definitely been one of the most transformative and rewarding experiences of my career thus far.

When faced with staffing challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, our CEO appointed me, an intern (at the time), to oversee and manage the recruiting and Human Resources functions for a new team of employees from Puerto Rico as well as the cultural sensitivity training and integration of our existing workforce.

Using Spanish language skills developed throughout my education, I found that I was able to connect and interact with these team members on a level beyond that of your typical employer-employee relationship. Simply because I was able to communicate with these team members in their own language, I was awarded the opportunity to learn about their culture, their families, their upbringing, and so much more. This experience inspired me to become more involved in HR.

Today, I’ve been brought on as a full-time team member, handling all of our marketing and analytics; graphic design; domestic and offshore recruiting in San Juan, Puerto Rico; candidate screening, interviewing, and hiring; and a significant portion of our other HR functions. I employ several years of experience in marketing and graphic design to attract not only potential clients to our products and services, but also potential candidates to our careers and opportunities. I love organizational culture, and believe that just as a product or service can be marketed to the perfect consumer, a career can be marketed to the perfect cultural fit or candidate.

In my free time, I’m involved in Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, where I have held several leadership roles, and the American Marketing Association.
